Our community
Rooted in our community
“Growing” is a word we use a lot at Ginkgo. We grow our clients’ wealth and security. We also want to help our community grow and thrive.
Grow with Ginkgo is how we give back – to local people, places and causes. We see financial security as one part of living well. The rest comes from feeling connected to where you live.
Sharing what we know
We’re always glad to share what we know with local groups. These are educational sessions – general information, not personal recommendations. Some we’ve run:
Lewisham Carers Week
We gave a talk for people who care for others.
Big Red Bus Club
We ran a session for carers of children with special educational needs.
Rectory Court and Leah Lodge
We’ve held financial drop-in sessions for residents and their families.
Glory Days
We joined this Lewisham group’s over-55s coffee mornings to talk about money.
More2 Nurseries
We spoke at a coffee morning about protecting your family.
Run a group or event that would value some plain-English financial education? We’d be glad to come along and share what we know. Get in touch and tell us what your group needs.
Looking after our patch
It started close to home, with the grey concrete around our office. We planted a green border of grasses and meadow flowers. We dressed the bin store in flowers and gave it a green roof. We created a green wall.
Our little planted corner draws in wildlife, soaks up pollution and helps with surface water – and makes passers-by smile. As Royal Greenwich Environment Champions, we litter-pick and recycle around the neighbourhood too. If you see us in our hi-vis, say hello.

Supporting local life
We back the people, places and causes that make this corner of London tick.
ABC Book Club
This Lewisham charity helps schools across South East London build and stock their libraries – giving children an inviting place to read and boosting their prospects. We regularly host book drives for them. We also sponsor sets of locally written money-skills books for children – one for every new library they build.
Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice
We took part in the hospice’s Open Garden Festival. We opened a gazebo outside our office on Delacourt Road, with homemade cake from the team and plants for sale. Little ones added a wish to our Ginkgo wishing tree, and dogs were welcome too – all to help raise funds for a great cause.
Blackheath Halls
We sponsored the 2026 Opera Gala – a vital fundraiser that makes their feted annual community opera and music education possible.
Macmillan
We’ve held bake sales for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
Reach Out Project
This Mycenae House project supports local people who are isolated or vulnerable. We joined their Knitathon for the Loneliness Hurts campaign and sponsored their 2024 Christmas party – a highlight in their community calendar. We also make a donation to Reach Out when someone refers a friend or family member to us and they become a client.
More2 Nurseries
We backed their sponsored walk for MumsAid, where more than 150 children each walked 1,001 metres – one for every day of MumsAid’s first 1,001 days of support for families.
Friends of Hornfair Park
We sponsored the new flower bed outside Charlton Lido. At PARKSfest 2025 we turned up with flowers, face-painting and friendly money chat.

Investing in young people
We help local students see what a career in financial advice can look like. Each summer we offer work experience. This year, two students from Leigh Academy Blackheath spent a week with us, sitting in with every member of the team to see what financial planning really involves. We’ve also welcomed students from Beths Grammar School in Bexley, and joined the careers fair at St Olave’s Grammer School in Orpington.
Why we do this
None of this is for show
We believe looking after money is one part of looking after people. Being part of the community keeps us close to the people we serve. And it’s simply how we’d like to behave as neighbours.
